The Peppermint plant is a hybrid mint plant, and it is a cross between spearmint and watermint and is native to Europe and the Middle East. Peppermint is a herbaceous, water mint rhizomatous perennial plant that grows around 12inches to 35inches tall. It contains smooth stems that are square in cross-section. The rhizomes of the peppermint plant are wide-spreading, fleshy, and bare fibrous roots. At the same time, the leaves of the peppermint plant are green and 1+ ½ to 3+ ½ inches long and ½ to 1+ ½ broad.

Both the stems and leaves of the peppermint plant are slightly fuzzy. The flowers of Mentha piperita are purple. Mentha piperita typically grows in moist habitats, streamsides, and drainage ditches. It produced no seeds and reproduced only vegetative.
