Description

Parent Plant Overview

Himalayan cedarwood is known as a deodar tree in India. It is a large coniferous tree with needle-like leaves, overlapping branches, and drooping branchlets. The plant is cultivated in the northern Indian states - Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Its wood is in great demand as a building material due to its durability, close grain, and rot-resistant properties. Its inner wood is used to make incense. Himalayan deodar wood is also known for its insecticidal properties.

Cedarwood (Himalayan) Essential Oil Description

The air-dried deodar wood chips are steam-distilled by cedarwood (Himalayan) essential oil manufacturers to extract thin brownish-yellow oil. The oil has a richly sweet, woody odor and contains a high percentage of himachalene compounds. It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, calming, and insecticidal properties.

It blends well with cassia, cypress, labdanum, vetiver, bergamot, rosewood, frankincense, rosemary, neroli, juniper berry, lime, and ylang-ylang natural essential oils for diverse purposes.
